Beat Procrastination in Two Minutes

Let’s talk procrastination—my old frenemy. I used to wait until I “felt ready” or until conditions were just right. (Spoiler: they rarely are.)

Then I came across a simple mindset shift called the Two-Minute Rule and it changed the game.

Here it is:

If a task will take two minutes or less, do it now.

No planning, no bargaining, no mental debate. Just knock it out.

Put the dish in the dishwasher.

Send that email.

Drink the glass of water.

Lay out your workout clothes.

Text the person back.

It clears mental clutter fast. But here’s the deeper part that really hit home for me:

If a task feels too big to start, break it into something you can do in two minutes.

Not “write the book”—just open the doc and write one sentence.

Not “clean the house”—just clear off the kitchen counter.

Not “work out”—just put on your shoes.

Momentum doesn’t come from motivation—it comes from movement.

Once you’re in motion, it’s a lot easier to keep going. But that first two minutes? That’s the spark.

Try it today. Start small. Build trust.

You don’t need to finish everything—you just need to start.
